How carryovers work
In skins the lowest score on a hole wins a skin, but only when nobody ties it. If two or more players tie for the low score, nobody wins that hole. When carry is on, the skin from the tied hole rolls onto the next hole, so the next outright winner takes every skin that has built up.
The calculator adds one skin per hole to the pile. A tied hole leaves the pile standing; an outright win empties it. So if holes 1 and 2 are tied and hole 3 is won outright, hole 3 is worth three skins.
What a winner collects
Each of the other players pays the winner the skin value for every skin won. With four players, a 2 skin and three skins riding, the winner collects 3 x 2 x 3 = 18. The table shows that figure for every outright winner.
What is left after 18
If the last holes are tied there will still be skins riding after the 18th. Groups handle that in different ways: the skins are void, they are split, they go to the last person to win a skin, or a countback decides. Agree it before the round. The calculator reports how many skins are left over so you can apply your rule.
Gross or net?
This calculator works from the result of each hole, so it does not matter whether you played gross or net. Tick a hole as tied if nobody had an outright low score under whichever basis you chose. Some groups settle net ties in favor of the lower gross score, which is a rule you can apply before you tick the box.
This tool only does the arithmetic. It never holds, moves or takes a share of money.
